Since 1994 DOSZ is the national association to represent all PhD candidates, without any citizenship distinction, who are currently delivering PhD studies in Hungary. The aim of the Ambassador System is to set up an international environment for young scientists in Hungary, and to internationalise PhD education within the country by crossing boundaries, we would like to facilitate international scientific connections, involving foreign PhD candidates currently doing their research in one of the Hungarian higher education institutions. We believe that only an internationally active PhD community can be competitive and sustainable.
We are looking for you if you:
Please note that having experience in student advocacy and community building is an advantage.
What DOSZ can offer?
DOSZ officially nominates all DOSZ Ambassadors on the XXV. Spring Wind Conference. DOSZ Ambassadors – with their nomination – are automatically going to be the members of DOSZ Ambassador System, being the Ambassador of your country’s young scientists would lead you to advocate doctoral students’ interest of your nation, to organise scientific events, to maintain connection with your country’s Embassy accredited to Hungary. DOSZ is also committed to help PhD candidates to deal with the challenges of Hungarian labour market, and strengthen international fellows’ connection with Hungarian authorities and scientific institutions.
What are our goals?
Our main goal is building an international PhD community in Hungary and create a secure network for the PhD candidates. We will address issues of particular concern to international students, such as integrity, language barriers, cultural differences and the Stipendium Hungaricum programme. We are committed to organise a cultural-scientific event dedicated to one country each month. During this event, all gradual and PhD students of the chosen country could meet and prepare traditional meals and presentation about their country’s cultural, historical, economical and scientific life. PhD candidates of the chosen country can also present their research during the event. For this special occasion we would like to have some disputes in round table discussion to talk about all the issues which affect the chosen country’s citizens’ life in Hungary involving the Embassy accredited to Hungary of the country. Furthermore DOSZ would like to involve international PhD Candidates in a more inclusive way to its scientific departments and its events, such as Spring Wind Conference in May, DOSZFEST in August and Milestone Conference in October.
